Hours after the body of one of the missing Mlolongo men was found, concerning details surrounding his death have emerged.

Justus Mutumwa Musyimi, Martin Mwau, Karani Mwema, and Stephen Mbisi Kavingo went missing on December 16 and 17, and their families have been desperately trying to find them. On Thursday, January 30, the body of Justus Mutumwa was found lying lifeless in the city mortuary.

Narrating the unfortunate ordeal of receiving a call to pick up Mutumwa's body, his brother Duncan Kyalo has raised an alarm about the circumstances of his death, claiming he sensed malice in the matter.

Speaking to Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, Kyalo revealed that while it was alleged that his brother's body had been taken to the city mortuary on December 19, he had made several trips to the morgue on December 22 and 29 but could not find the body.

"I have been looking for my brother in all police stations and morgues but couldn't find him. I went to City mortuary on December 22, and I didn't find him, went back there on 29 and still didn't find him, "Kyalo narrated.

"Things are not adding up because I received a call to come for my brother and was told his body has been there from 19 December yet I was there two times after that date and I couldn't find him," he continued.

In a notice to clarify the circumstances behind Mutumwa's body discovery, Police IG Douglas Kanja revealed that the deceased's body was discovered on December 18 floating on the Nairobi River in Ruai area.

He was taken to the city mortuary but his body was not identified until Thursday, January 30, after forensic investigations revealed that the body was Mutumwa's.

Kyalo, however, revealed that even during his numerous trips to the city mortuary, he requested to be shown the bodies of unidentified people, but he was shown completely different bodies, and his brother was not among them.

Mutumwa's body was discovered on Thursday, the same day as that of his fellow abductee Martin Mwau, hours after Kanja and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohammed Amin finally honoured court orders to appear and account for the missing men.

The two denied having taken the four into custody and claimed the police were not involved in their disappearance.

Mutumwa's family is now seeking clarity to their questions and justice for their kin. Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah vowed to continue with the case in court and ensure that the state is held accountable for the disappearances and subsequent killings.
