Popular Nairobi city preacher, Apostle James Ng’ang’a, who was recently criticised for chasing away a stranded woman, today paid a courtesy visit to Housing Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome.
On Wednesday morning, Ng’ang’a visited the CS to discuss the Affordable Housing Programme as part of the government's ongoing efforts to educate and raise awareness about the opportunities available through the initiative.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Affordable Housing Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sheila Waweru, the team discussed key insights into the programme’s progress, objectives, and the impact of affordable housing on Kenyans.
CS Wahome informed the preacher that the Affordable Housing Programme was not just about constructing houses but also about providing dignity, security, and economic empowerment to millions of Kenyans.
“Our goal is ambitious yet achievable: to deliver 1 million housing units in the next five years, reaching over 15 million Kenyans directly and indirectly,” CS Wahome revealed during the meeting.
According to the CS, the housing program also aligned with Article 43 of the Kenyan Constitution, which guarantees every citizen the right to accessible and adequate housing.
Wahome described Apostle Ng’ang’a’s visit as both inspiring and impactful and that his interest in understanding the program reflected the growing awareness and support from various sectors of society.
During the discussion, Ng'ang'a was also guided through the process of acquiring affordable housing and educated on the program’s structure and benefits.
Ng'ang'a's visit to CS Alice Wahome's office followed a fortnight after he came under strong criticism from Kenyans for allegedly chasing away a stranded woman who had approached him for help.
Milka Moraa, one of Ng'ang'a's congregants, had approached the preacher claiming that she needed help after her landlord locked her house due to non-payment of rent.
The video shared on various social media platforms attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans including CS Wahome who intervened and provided Moraa with one of the government's affordable houses.
Moraa received a studio apartment worth Ksh640,000 which would require her to pay as little as Ksh3900 monthly compared to her previous rent of Ksh8000.
