The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a four-day closure of the Thika Superhighway at Juja Highpoint, commonly referred to as Centurion.

According to KeNHA, the road will be closed between Saturday, February 15, and Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 11pm to 6am.

Motorists along the Nairobi-bound traffic have been advised to use a diversion behind Lexo petrol station before rejoining the superhighway.

Those using the Thika-bound traffic have been directed to use a diversion behind the Centurion Hotel before rejoining the Superhighway.

KeNHAs director General Eng Ndugu has advised motorists to exercise vigilance around the work areas and follow the proposed traffic management plan as presented on KeNHAs official X.

“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, to follow the proposed traffic management plan below, and to cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” reads part of the notice issued on Friday, February 14.

The closure will allow for the continuation of the construction of a footbridge.

The announcement comes amid numerous road construction projects by the authority that have affected the traffic flow in and around Nairobi.

The projects are aimed at streamlining the roads in the country and beyond. KeNHA is also currently undertaking a project commissioned by President William Ruto.

On February 7, 2025, President Ruto launched the upgrading of the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP), a transformative initiative aimed at improving connectivity in North Eastern Kenya and enhancing cross-border access to Somalia and Ethiopia.

The project consists of two key sections: Lot I: Isiolo-Kulamawe (A10/B84) Road, currently 54.29 per cent complete, and Lot II: Kulamawe-Modogashe (B84) Road, which is 41.7 per cent complete.

Construction began on September 1, 2022, and KeNHA is expected to complete it by March 2, 2026.
