''On the night of February 17, 2025, while conducting routine patrol duties, the officers stumbled upon a disturbing scene. The three had pinned a member of the public to the ground attempting to rob him of his valuables,'' a police report shared by the DCI read in part.

''Acting swiftly and decisively, the officers intervened, arresting the trio and escorting them to Githurai Police Post where they are undergoing processing to be arraigned tomorrow.''

The trio was taken to Githurai Police Post for processing and will be arraigned in court today, Wednesday.

Following the incident, the DCI issued a stern warning to members of the public and police officers against collaborating in criminal undertakings indicating that such activities would be met with the full force of the law.

The incident came less than a day after detectives from the Serious Crimes Unit (SCU), in collaboration with their counterparts stationed in Ruiru, apprehended a DCI officer over an alleged robbery with violence incident.

According to detectives, the officer, stationed at the DCI offices in Kibwezi, Makueni County, was arrested on Monday, February 17, over links to a robbery incident on July 22 last year.

During the robbery, one bar attendant was reportedly shot in the stomach and left nursing serious injuries before the robbers made off with Ksh50,000.

Still at Githurai, a 33-year-old man was arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a seven-year-old boy in the Mwihoko area of Kiambu County on February 17, 2025, following well-coordinated efforts by police officers and detectives based at Githurai Police Station.
