A day after the former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha claimed that she has been facing Financial challenges after her dismissal during the 2024 cabinet restructuring, leaders from the Western Region have urged President William Ruto to consider appointing her in another position.

Speaking during the late former IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati's burial on Saturday, March 8, Kiminini Member of Parliament Maurice Kakai said that the former Health Cabinet Secretary is still competent to hold another office in the government.

"Your Excellency, I believe that Nakhumicha was doing a very good job when she was in office. Mama Mary has said how competent, kind, and focused she was in helping the chairman. As you continue to arrange the government, remember Nakhumicha," he said.

Seemingly responding to the request, Ruto acknowledged the former CS's contribution in the health sector, stressing that she 'did a good job' during her tenure.

The former health CS was dismissed in July 2024 following the anti-government protests that rocked the country.

Nakhumicha was dismissed alongside other ministers after Kenyans expressed dissatisfaction with the government and was replaced by Deborah Barasa on August 8, 2024.

Following her dismissal, Nakhumicha said that due to the uniqueness of her name, most people still identified her as the Cabinet Secretary for Health, a situation that made it hard for her to interact freely with people.

The former Health CS went ahead to request that Bishop Jackson Ole Sapit include her in his prayers since she was grappling with immense challenges after her sudden dismissal from the government.

“When you say Nakhumicha, that name is distinct, and associate it with the Health CS position. Please continue praying for me; God has blessed me, and I still expect more blessings,” she said last year.

Speaking on Friday, March 8, the former CS revealed that she became aware of her dismissal through the television.

Following her dismissal, Nakhumicha revealed that she is currently farming and selling cabbages to make a living; however, she is facing financial hardships.

"During Moi's day, the dismissal of a minister was made on the radio, but ours was not through the radio; I just sat in front of a television and just waited, and I then heard that the whole cabinet had been dismissed, and since then I have been looking up to God," she said.

"Since then, I have never had a job, and I'm doing farming. Now I do farming for cabbages, and the burial offering has been a problem, but I managed. So I ask you all to continue praying for me," she said.
