Mariakani Vocational Training Centre provides the most extensive range of programmes under the KeNHA initiative. Students will have the opportunity to train in Computer Operation, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Tailoring, Dressmaking, Electrical Wiring, Welding (Electric Arc), General Fitting, Light Vehicle Mechanics, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, and Masonry.

KeNHA is implementing the project in collaboration with the national government and county education officers. The selection of applicants will follow a rigorous vetting process, with shortlisted candidates undergoing a physical verification exercise before final selection.

Applicants eligible for the KeNHA vocational training scholarship must be between the ages of 18 and 35. They must have completed at least KCPE but should not have received any formal training at the diploma level or higher.

Additionally, candidates must be able to read and write and must be residents of the Jomvu, Kinango, Kaloleni, or Rabai sub-counties, which are located along the Kwa Jomvu-Mariakani road project.

Priority will be given to applicants from vulnerable backgrounds, including orphans and those raised in single-parent households. Young single mothers who meet the qualifications will also receive special consideration, as will persons living with disabilities. Furthermore, applicants from low-income families and those residing in informal settlements along the project area will be prioritised in the selection process.

Successful candidates will join their respective institutions in the May 2025 intake. “Scholarships shall be awarded based on a comparative evaluation of the applications submitted, the requirements met, and the criteria relating to merit, established according to a specific evaluation chart,” KeNHA stated.

Application forms are accessible online through the KeNHA website. They can also be collected from designated offices, including the KeNHA Coast Regional Offices in Mombasa and sub-county offices in Jomvu, Kinango, Kaloleni, and Rabai.

According to KeNHA, interested candidates must ensure their application forms are stamped by the Area Chief or Assistant County Commissioner as proof of residence.

The deadline for submission is Friday, March 28, at 5:00 pm, with no late applications being considered.
