They have also been urged to adhere to the directive and cooperate with the police and traffic officers who will be deployed at the site to streamline the exercise.

"Traffic will be diverted to the old Mbogolo Bridge route during this period. Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work area, follow the proposed traffic management plan below, and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," the statement concluded.

The announcement by KeNHA comes just a day after it also announced the commencement of construction of the multinational South Sudan Road Corridor.

In a notice made on the MyGov issue of March 11, the authority revealed that this 193-kilometre project had been facilitated by funding from the Africa Development Bank (AfDB).

"The Government of the Republic of Kenya has received financing from the African Development Bank and African Development Fund to finance the Multinational: Kenya South Sudan Road Corridor Lesseru-Kitale and Morpus-Lokichar Road Upgrading Project Phase 1," KeNHA stated.

"The Project Road, Lesseru Kitale, and Morpus Lokichar Road Sections form part of the Lesseru-Nadapal-Kapoeta Juba corridor located in the north-western region of Kenya."

Later in the day, after President William Ruto ended his cabinet meeting, it was revealed that the cabinet had resorted to commence the construction ofthe  Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Highway by June 1, 2025.

“Cabinet directed the finalisation of the construction framework and the groundbreaking of the 170km four-lane Rironi-Mau Summit Road by June 1, 2025,” the cabinet dispatch read.
