The Roots Party of Kenya has named Caleb Sunguti as its official candidate for the Malava Constituency by-election.
In a statement on Tuesday, March 18, Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah announced that Sunguti would be the first parliamentary candidate to run under the Roots Party banner.
Wajackoyah stated that Sunguti was carefully vetted and approved in line with the integrity standards of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution.
"The Roots Party of Kenya settles on Caleb Sunguti for the Malava by-election. The first Roots Party parliamentary candidate. Vetted and verified by Chapter 6," Wajackoyah stated.
The by-election was announced following the passing of former Member of Parliament Moses Malulu Injendi on Monday 17, February, after weeks of hospitalisation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
According to the statement, the nominee holds a Bachelor of Education degree and an MBA in Project Planning and Management from Kenyatta University and the University of Nairobi.
He did his master's program in Business Administration project management from 2010 to 2012 at the University of Nairobi.
Sunguti has been a senior lecturer for 13 years at the Kenya School of Government, Nairobi Campus, teaching Public Financial Management and Project Management.
His professional background includes serving as a Business and Finance lecturer at Kitale National Polytechnic and KCA University.
Wajackoyah added that Sunguti previously worked as a Telkom manager before transitioning to a senior lecturer role.
According to Wajackoyah, with over 25 years of experience in public affairs, Sunguti is well-positioned to address the needs of Malava Constituency.
With his strong educational background, the Roots Party expressed confidence in his ability to effectively represent the people of Malava.
