A Kenyan peacekeeper serving in the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after sustaining injuries during an operation.

Jack Ombaka, the MSS Spokesperson, while addressing the press yesterday, said the Kenyan officer was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area.

According to the MSS Spokesperson, moments after sustaining the injuries, the police officer was evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital, where he received immediate medical attention.

Ombaka further revealed that the injured police officer successfully received treatment and is currently recuperating in stable condition.

"Today, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, a member of the MSS Kenyan contingent was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area," Ombaka said.

"The officer was promptly evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition," he added.

The MSS Spokesperson, while commending Haitian citizens for their support, pledged to provide further updates about the incident through the mission’s official social media channels.

"I sincerely thank you all for your unwavering support and cooperation as we engage in this decisive phase of operations against criminal elements," Ombaka stated.

The incident adds to the growing list of police officers who have sustained injuries during the peacekeeping mission in the Caribbean nation. It follows the death of Constable Samuel Kitwai, who passed away on February 24 after sustaining injuries during an operation.

His death was confirmed by MSS Commander Godfrey Otunge, who revealed that Kitwai succumbed to injuries sustained during a peacekeeping operation in Artibonite State, a region located north of Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital.

Addressing the press on February 24, Otunge said the officer was airlifted to hospital, where he passed away shortly after, marking the first casualty suffered by the MSS mission.

The rising number of injuries in the Kenya-led mission comes barely two months after the East African nation deployed its third cohort of police officers, including an all-female elite SWAT squad, to the Caribbean nation.
