The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) fraternity has been thrown into mourning following the death of Fredrick Parsayo, a journalist who served as a reporter in the editorial department.
While confirming his death, KBC management announced that the deceased passed away on Friday, March 21, at his home in the Kinoo, Kikuyu Constituency.
According to the media house, the journalist died under unclear circumstances, however, investigations have already commenced to establish the cause of death.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our esteemed colleague, Fredrick Parsayo, who served as a reporter in the KBC Editorial Department,” read part of the statement by KBC.
“Fredrick sadly left us on Friday, March 21, 2025, under circumstances that are still being investigated, at his home in the Kinoo-Kikuyu Constituency. This unexpected loss has deeply affected us all,” the statement added.
The incident has since been reported to the Kinoo Police Station, and the deceased’s body was taken to St Teresa Mortuary with his family already informed about his demise.
According to KBC, Fredrick was a cherished member of the editorial team, and his absence would be profoundly felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
“On behalf of the KBC Board of Directors, Management, and all our staff, we extend our sincerest condolences to Fredrick's family, friends, and all those impacted by his loss,” the media house announced.
Parsayo joined the media house in 2021 immediately after completing his tertiary education at the University of Nairobi (UoN) where he studied for four years since 2018.
While undertaking his education at the UoN, he pursued Journalism and Media studies and specialised in Broadcast Media, he later graduated in 2022.
Parsayo's demise adds to the number of journalists who have died in recent months. His death comes almost a year after former NTV journalist Rita Tinina died.
Tinina died in March last year and her body was discovered inside her house in Brooklyn Springs, Kileleshwa, Nairobi, by curious colleagues. According to an autopsy report, Tinina died of pneumonia.
She was scheduled to report to work at NTV for the 1 pm news bulletin, however, she did not show up, prompting concern from her colleagues.
