Detectives handling the case of KBC Video Editor Betty Barasa who was brutally murdered in her home in Ngong, Kajiado County are now pursuing a possible assassination plot.

According to investigators, the murder was pre-meditated as the attackers singled her out of six other people present in the house including a friend, only known as Tony.

An autopsy conducted on her body revealed that Betty succumbed to a gunshot to the head.

Detectives say the lodged bullet will be used in forensic analysis to guide in tracking down the suspects.

The armed gunmen on Wednesday night, April 7, entered the gate with Barasa as she arrived home from work.

The house help, who had gone to open the gate, says she saw the three men walk in behind Barasa's car and threaten to kill them if they did not comply.

"When Betty saw that one of the thugs had pointed a gun at me, she screamed, then one of the other thugs run towards her direction and also pointed a gun at her. They asked us to lead them to the house through the kitchen door," the house help narrated.

They then ordered the children to lie down and demanded money from the husband.

Police also revealed that one of the men received instructions on phone from an unknown person and called to confirm that they had shot Barasa.

The investigators recovered a mobile phone that had been accidentally dropped just 50 metres from her home as the robbers were fleeing the scene.

The mobile phone appeared to be one of the devices that had been stolen from the deceased's home and will be one of the crucial pieces of evidence directing the case.
