Popular media personality Chipukeezy, formally known as Vincent Mwasia Mutua, was on Wednesday, March 26, named Assistant Director, Protocol and Events in the Office of the President.
The new development was announced by Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Dennis Itumbi, who wished him well in his new role.
“Congratulations, Chipukeezy, on your appointment as Assistant Director, Protocol and Events in the Executive Office of the President!” Itumbi stated.
“Habakkuk 2:3. May you serve with unwavering focus and passion as we work together to drive the success of The Creative Economy,” he added.
The latest appointment marks Chipukeezy’s return to government. In 2018, he was appointed as a director at the National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and was later elected as the Vice Chairperson in 2021.
In his new role, Chipukeezy will be responsible for managing official ceremonies, state functions, and diplomatic protocols.
His functions will span protocol management, event planning and coordination, liaison with government agencies and diplomats, speech and briefing preparations, public relations, and media coordination.
In regards to protocol management, Chipukeezy will oversee ensuring proper observance of diplomatic protocols for state functions, coordinating the reception, accreditation, and hosting of foreign dignitaries and advising government officials on protocol etiquette and procedures.
For event planning and coordination, Chipukeezy will organise national events, including public holidays, summits, and state banquets, coordinating logistics for presidential trips, both local and international as well as managing VIP security arrangements in collaboration with relevant agencies.
In terms of liaison with government agencies and diplomats, Chipukeezy will work with ministries, foreign embassies, and international organizations on diplomatic engagements. His role will also encompass facilitating communication between the presidency and other government offices regarding official events.
For speech and briefing preparations, the media personality will play a key role in preparing event briefs and ensuring the President’s speeches align with diplomatic protocols. He will also ensure proper seating arrangements and order of precedence at official functions.
In public relations and media coordination, Chipukeezy will manage press coverage and media arrangements during state functions. This is in addition to handling communication regarding official events and announcements.
Chipukeezy first burst into the limelight as a comedian on the popular Churchill Show on NTV, where he progressed to becoming a mainstay in Kenya’s media and entertainment scene.
