The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has denied reports that it has begun the much-anticipated national police recruitment.
The Commission flagged a viral link that purports to link Kenyans to jobs within the police service.
The link that popped up on various social media platforms, including on WhatsApp, came days after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed plans to hire 10,000 police officers this year.
The posts that have now been flagged had the caption ‘National Police Service (NPS) Recruitment Job 2025.’
The link asked interested parties to follow the link to register for the recruitment exercise.
“NPSC cautions the public against a fraudulent recruitment link purporting to publicise vacancies within the National Police Service,” the Commission said.
Adding, “The Commission wishes to clarify that no recruitment exercise is currently underway.”
NPSC asked the public to ignore the message and to remain vigilant against potential scams.
The Commission further indicated that “any official recruitment exercise will be duly announced through the Commission’s established and credible communication channels.”
The government has indicated it will hire 10,000 police officers this year after a three year hiatus.
The exercise is expected within the next two months, according to CS Murkomen.
“We are conscious of the fact that in the last 3 to 4 years, we have not been able to hire or recruit new police officers, and that has put a big strain on most of the police stations,” he said.
Adding, “I am glad to announce that in the next financial year and in a process that will begin from this financial year in a month or two, we shall be going out to recruit another 10,000 police officers to make sure that the police service is resourced.”
