According to an official statement by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nairobi Branch, Eric Kivuva, Kagwi of Kagwi Githuku and Company Advocates, was found dead in his office in Nairobi on Tuesday evening.

The chair described the lawyer as a professional who was passionate about his job and a problem solver who consistently exuded joy in his interactions.

According to Kivuva, Kagwi was passionate about political leadership, business, acquiring knowledge, and spiritual growth.

"Kagwi has been mourned as an extraordinary individual who consistently exuded joy in his interactions. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, colleagues, and all who had the honour of working alongside him," the notice continued.

LSK did not reveal the cause of his death but said that investigations were ongoing to ensure the cause of death was established.

According to his LinkedIn profile, before his death, Kagwi also served as a Trainee Certified Secretary under KASNEB. He was also the Youth Leader and Discipleship Facilitator at DICC All Saints Community Chapel in Ruai, Nairobi.

The former University of Nairobi student has been a law firm proprietor at Kagwi Githuku & Company Advocates since September 2023.

The death follows LSK's president's alarm about the safety and security of lawyers in Kenya.

Odhiambo voiced concerns over the increasing threats, intimidation, and attacks on legal professionals, particularly those handling human rights cases, corruption investigations, and politically sensitive matters.

The LSK president has numerously called on the government to tighten security and ensure the safety of lawyers while they perform their duties.
