The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has invited interested teaching professionals to apply for opportunities to train in the development of quality test items for the effective implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
In the notice dated April 2, KNEC noted that these skills would be crucial for teachers in primary, junior, and senior school levels, as well as in the teacher training levels.
"The Council wishes to invite qualified teachers and teacher educators to apply for training in the development of quality test items for effective implementation of Competency Based Assessment in basic education and teacher training levels," part of the notice read.
"Trained teachers and teacher educators could be engaged by KNEC as contracted professionals from time to time as may be necessary."
Once trained, KNEC noted that the teachers and teacher educators will have the opportunity of being contracted from time to time as may be necessary.
Qualifications for those interested include having unquestionable and irreproachable integrity and being a professional, expert, or subject specialist in the subject they wish to be trained for.
It is open only to teachers in primary school grades 4, 5, and 6; junior school grades 7 and 8; and those currently teaching at secondary school and will be teaching senior school's grade 10 in 2026.
