Matungulu, Member of Parliament Stephen Mule, has threatened to initiate the process of ejecting the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, if he continues engaging in politics and following a goon attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking during a press briefing on Sunday, April 6, the MP said that the IG should 'style up,' refrain from politics, and focus on protecting the people of Kenya.

The MP, who was commenting on the recent goon attack in the PCEA Kasarani East church, where Gachagua was in attendance, said that Parliament is closely assessing the next step for the IG and will be monitoring him to make sure that those responsible for disrupting the church service are held to account.

According to the MP, Kanja will be required to conduct an investigation and produce the names of those who sent and paid the goons to disrupt the church service.

"How can you engage in politics in a rally in Nyeri and you cannot protect the faithful who have gone to worship in PCEA Kasarani? We are going to call you out early enough; you either style up, or we start a process to remove you from office as members of parliament," he said.

"If you are in a rally in Nyeri, you should have also protected the faithful in Kasarani from attack from goons who have been paid, and we are waiting to see what action you will take. Stop politics, and we have said very clearly that we do not want politics in our security agencies," he added.

Mule, who strongly castigated the incident, said that security agencies across the country should pull up their socks and focus on their responsibility of protecting the church as mandated by the constitution.

"I want to condemn the action and the event that has happened at PCEA Kasarani today in the strongest terms possible, and we want to urge the IG, DCI, and all the other security operators that you have the responsibility to protect the church and the faithful as they worship. Kenyans have the right to worship without any disturbance," he said.

The chaos on Sunday in Kasarani saw security officers associated with the former DP shoot into the air to disperse scores of youths who had stormed the church.

The youths, according to reports, were allegedly demanding cash payments for them to attend the event, which prompted the security officers linked to the former DP to act.

Gachagua, who labelled the attack as 'insensitive and unkind,' slammed the president for allegedly sponsoring goons to infiltrate a church, saying the attacks on him had reached a different level.

"My President. What happened to you? In a church? You have reached a different level. You sent me goons in Limuru last week, you sent goons to Nyeri, and now you've sent them to church. You have become bold," he said.
