Less than a month after assuming office at the Afya House, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has made fresh appointments to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital, signalling his pursuit to bring more changes to the ministry.

In a notice published in the Kenya Gazette, Duale appointed Agnes Ongandi to be a board member of the KUTRRH for three years from April 4 of this year.

''In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with Paragraph 6 (1) (k) of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital Order, the Cabinet Secretary for Health appoints Agnes A. Ongandi to be a member of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital Board for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 4th April, 2025,'' read part of the notice by Duale.

Treasury CS John Mbadi has also effected the reappointment of Njeri Onyango to the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board (PPARB) as a member for another 3 years.

''In exercise of the powers conferred by section 29 (2) (b) of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning re appoints—Njeri Onyango to be a member of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board (PPARB) for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 4th April, 2025,'' read part of the notice by Mbadi.

The Attorney General, Dorcas Oduor, also made new appointments, with 30 advocates forwarded to the Kenya Revenue Authority to help the taxman deliver its constitutionally mandated duties.

''In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (d) of the Advocates Act, the persons specified in the Schedule shall be entitled in connection with the duties of their office to act as advocates of the Kenya Revenue Authority,'' a notice by Oduor added.

Meanwhile, Siaya County Governor James Orengo made changes to the municipal board after making new appointments.

Orengo appointed Reverend Canon Joel Ochieng, Michael Francis Ochieng, Goerge Ouma Ongongo, and Winnie Awuor Oyugi to be board members of the county unit.

The four will serve for five years after they were approved by the County Assembly of Siaya in line with section 30 (2) (a) and (l) of the County Governments Act, section 14 of the Urban Areas and Cities Act and sections 9 and 11 of the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval).

Meanwhile, Health CS Duale, on Saturday last week, constituted a new committee to address the impasse facing the health sector regarding the pending bills that the defunct National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) owed to medical facilities.

In an announcement published in a special gazette, Duale announced that the committee would address the backlog of unsettled medical claims that has threatened to cripple the sector, especially with complaints from the private and mission-based hospitals.
