Following reports that a Full Gospel Church in Clay City, Kasarani, was still perpetuating noise pollution despite several reports to the Nairobi County officials, the county's Chief Environment Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria, has responded.

Taking to social media on Tuesday, April 28, Mosiria noted that the church had been granted a notice on March 21 to, among others, reduce the amount of bass speakers to reduce the amount of noise emanating from the church.

"Thank you for sharing this information on social media. I wish to bring to the attention of Clay City residents in Kasarani Subcounty that we have already issued the church with a notice dated 21/03/2025, requesting them to stop noise pollution," Mosiria stated.

"Failure to comply will now necessitate enforcement action, which includes arrest and prosecution in accordance with the law."

Mosiria also shared a copy of the notice issued to the church, showing that it had been cited for noise pollution, causing a public nuisance to the residents.

The church had been ordered to implement three measures—stop further generation of excessive noise and vibrations, reduce the number of bass speakers used and soundproof the building— to ensure it adheres to the directive as issued.

Over a month later, the church is yet to fully comply with these measures, leaving the residents to continue amplifying their voices over the matter.

On Tuesday, April 29, one such resident reached out to a popular blogger on X, stating that the residents were seeking the intervention of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) since the county had failed them.

Among the repercussions for failing to adhere to these directives was legal action as necessitated by law, something that the church officials now face after not meeting the deadline.

According to pictures seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the church is located adjacent to a residential building, further amplifying its noise to the residents.

Just next to the church, further construction is ongoing as demonstrated by the construction material at the scene, including building bricks and sand.

In October 2024, the county government launched an initiative that sought to establish agreed-upon times for churches to turn off their loudspeakers and urged residents to report any such cases.
