42-year-old Hulda Bochere Mosiori, a Kenyan, succumbed to bullet wounds in Minnesota, US, after being involved in a gun altercation with the father of her children.
Bochere was fatally shot on April 22 in a brutal act of domestic violence that has left her family and friends mourning.
According to official reports by law enforcement agencies in Minnesota, Hulda's former partner, identified as Mel Melchizedek, stormed into her residence in a fit of rage during the early hours.
Witnesses reported hearing shouting before multiple gunshots rang out from inside the home. Tragically, Hulda was shot fatally at the scene.
In a final act of violence and despair, Melchizedek turned the gun on himself, dying instantly. When the authorities got to the scene, they found both Bochere and Melchizedek lying dead in a pool of blood.
''Indications show that an adult male confronted a neighbour with a firearm before returning to his home nearby. Law enforcement attempted contact with the residents inside the suspect's home and eventually made entry.
"Upon entering the house, an adult female and adult male were located deceased," a report by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office read in part.
According to law enforcement authorities in the US, the incident is still under investigation to determine what led to the suspect to make their move. They, however, assured the public that there was no threat.
''The shelter-in-place has been lifted, and at this time, there is no known threat to the public. This incident is under investigation by the Ramsey Police Department, the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office, and the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. No further information will be released at this time,'' the officers explained.
Bochere, a mother of four, was a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and entrepreneur.
Speaking on her unfortunate passing, Minnesota State Representative Huldah Momanyi-Hiltsley, a Kenyan leader in the US, condemned it, terming it a senseless act of violence that should never have happened.
''My heart is broken. Hulda Mosiori’s life was taken far too soon in a senseless act of violence that should never have happened. This tragedy reminds us that behind every headline is a real person, a sister, a daughter, a mother whose dreams were stolen,'' Momanyi told Daily Nation on Tuesday, April 29.
Bochere has added to the statistics of the numerous Kenyan women who have lost their lives in foreign lands and even in Kenya at the hands of violent men.
