The Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has written to the Senate asking it to take action against nominated member Gloria Orwoba she accused of speaking lies about him regarding alleged fake foreign jobs.

Orwoba has accused Mutua of being behind a controversial diaspora jobs programme, alleging that some Kenyans have been defrauded through the scheme.

And on Wednesday, May 7, the CS said: "Senator Gloria Orwoba might actually be impeached for spreading lies about me."

Mutua, who spoke during an interview with Spice FM, said he has asked the Senate to take action against Orwoba.

He said he is also keen to prove that the accusations she has been making against him, accusing him of tolerating fake diaspora jobs, are false.

On Tuesday, the CS had defended the controversial foreign jobs programme before the Senate Labour Committee, saying while some job seekers have waited for months, others have already been successfully deployed.

He also dismissed claims the government has defrauded Kenyans through non-existent overseas job opportunities, attributing the delays in deployment to logistical and administrative challenges.

"I have decided in my life that I will not be using the media to talk to people who are lying and exaggerating things. I will always deal with them officially," he said.

Mutua added: "I have given you a letter I wrote to the Senate about a rogue member of parliament, and I'll go to the Senate to show that everything she has been saying is all lies. And she may actually lose her job, because you don't create a crisis and exaggerate it."

In recent months, Orwoba has been leading the charge in castigating the CS over his 'reluctance' to suppress the metamorphosing trend of fake diaspora jobs.

Speaking during a Senate session on Wednesday, April 2, the Orwoba, who labelled Mutua as incompetent, called on President William Ruto to fire him.

According to the senator, some Kenyans have been conned at the office of the Ministry of Labour as they seek job opportunities abroad.

Mutua, on the other hand, has argued that individuals complaining of job scams are from one community, which he did not name, and attributes it to incitement by 'somebody' from that community.

According to the CS, some job agencies have even admitted not being interested in recruiting youths from the community.

"The sad thing is that the people who are complaining that they paid money and they have not travelled are all from one community, and it is a problem. This is a great community. Why are they making noise? But we also know that they have been talked to and incited by somebody from the community," he said.

The CS has further stressed that job agencies that may have been involved in fake jobs offering have no connection with the government. The CS said that he has submitted a list of 153 unlicensed job recruitment companies, to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) for investigations and action.

"What makes me unhappy is when you find people who sell their property and then give the money to a person who vanishes. But the good thing is that that has really gone down, and the numbers have gone down. We have put the pressure," he said.

According to Mutua, if a Kenyan failed to get a job through a government agency after paying the necessary fees, the government either refunded the money or gave the individual an alternative job elsewhere.

Mutua has further asserted that the government is in the process of executing measures that will ensure a swift job processing to put Kenyans at an advantage of clinching them faster than citizens from other nations.
