The anchor, known for his authoritative style in conducting interviews, will host a new political talk show as TV47 aims for a strategic revamp of its political programming.

Debarl last graced screens in early 2024, where he hosted a morning show at the Mombasa Road-based media house Standard Group.

Since then, the anchor has kept a low profile, although he revealed to Kenyans.co.ke that he was excited at the prospect of influencing the Kenyan political landscape once again.

The seasoned political show host's journey in the limelight began in the early 2000s, when he was a contestant on the music reality show Tusker Project Fame.

Debarl’s journey in the limelight began in the early 2000s when he appeared as a contestant on the popular music reality show, Tusker Project Fame. Since transitioning to broadcast media, he has had stints with NTV, K24 and the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB).

The Muthaiga-based TV47 has in recent months sought to bolster its talent pool using high-profile names. The station’s former anchor and CEO of the parent company, Cape Media Ltd, Abubakar Abdullahi, is also coming back to the station as a news anchor.

Abdullahi initially resigned from his leadership role in March 2023 after serving for more than three years.

TV47 now boasts some of the biggest names in Kenyan media, solidifying its position at a time when the industry is shifting from traditional news formats to more content-driven approaches.

Debarl now joins the likes of Shiksha Arora, Betty Kyallo, Stanley Nyaringita, Fred Indimuli, Eric Munene, Apollo Kamau, Tony Kwalanda, and Elizabeth Atieno at the media station.
