President William Ruto’s senior economic advisor, Moses Kuria, has criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of attempting to introduce dictatorship in Mt Kenya politics through coercive tactics and intimidation.

In a sarcastic tirade, Kuria mocked what he described as Gachagua’s obsession with control, claiming the former DP was using his newly launched Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) to manipulate leaders and voters in the region into submission.

Kuria alleged that Gachagua was already exerting pressure on Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, warning him that failure to support the DCP could cost him re-election in 2027.

He further mocked Gachagua’s alleged intentions to personally vet aspirants seeking the DCP ticket, insinuating that the former DP wanted to eliminate candidates he deemed “unfit” for his political agenda.

Kuria wrote ''The Making of a Dictator'' online before listing what he termed Gachagua’s emerging traits of authoritarianism. He sarcastically summarised them in five points, ranging from controlling governors to demanding blind loyalty from Mt Kenya artists.

''1. Governor Irungu Kang'ata, no matter how hard you work for Murang’a people, as long as you do not follow me, you will be a one-term governor. 2. I will personally interview all candidates seeking District Commissioners Party tickets to weed out uneducated ones," Kuria posted.

He went on: ''3. All parties in Mt Kenya, except the District Commissioners Party, are sellouts and should be rejected. 4. All leaders in Mt Kenya, except those following me everywhere, are brainless. 5. All musicians from Mt Kenya who do not sing my praise songs are tukunias and tugeges. Do not listen to their music. Do not invite them to shows. Boycott all entertainment joints that invite them. Unfollow them on social media."

Ending with biting sarcasm, Kuria added, ''What next... All women whose first name is not Dorcas are sellouts and will not go to heaven?''

Meanwhile, speaking at a separate event in Meru on Sunday, the president's advisor slammed leaders from the region, without appearing to mention names, over what he termed as attempts to promote ethnic divisions.

Further, he slammed Kiharu lawmaker Ndindi Nyoro over his recent remarks on the financial issues and policies in the government. This is after Nyoro raised concerns about how the government was using social security funds to advance development agendas.

According to Kuria, it was morally wrong for the lawmaker to keep quiet during his tenure as Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee in the National Assembly and only purport to care after his ouster.

Nyoro was ousted from the committee on March 5, following the realignments in the government with the entrance of the opposition members into the government.
