The Executive Office of the President has announced a public auction of several unserviceable vehicles and household items.
In a notice issued on the MyGov issue on Tuesday, May 27, the State House announced that several other motor equipment, such as tyres, car batteries, obsolete vehicle spare parts and spare parts will be available for the auction set to take place on June 13.
Household items, including laundry machines, old carpets and rags, car washing machine, generator, halogen security lights, electric cooker, lawn mower, among other items, have also been put up for auction.
To take part in the auction, Kenyans have been advised to present themselves at the State Department for Roads in Ruiru, starting at 10am on Friday, June 13.
Prospective bidders have also been informed about a refundable deposit of Ksh50,000, which is to be paid before participating in the auction in the form of cash.
This payment should be made at the cash office located at the State House in Nairobi during normal working hours.
Further information on bidding on the items can be found at www.tenders.go.ke and www.president.go.ke.
On both sites, one can download a catalogue containing details of the venue, items to be auctioned, conditions of sale and date of viewing for the products.
For further clarification, the notice directed the public to speak to the appointed auctioneer, Astorion Auctioneers.
This is not the first time the top office in the land has auctioned vehicular and household equipment, as similar notices have been issued on MyGov before.
A year ago, on May 28, 2024, the Statehouse revealed that it was seeking to offload unserviceable motorcycles, tyres, car batteries, rims and other assorted items.
Conditions for the auction mirrored the current one, including the minimum deposit required, the auction venue and the date of the auction, which was on June 14, 2024.
