The Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, has announced the establishment of three new police stations.
The police stations, which will be located in two subcounties in Nairobi and Turkana, were announced in a notice on the June 5 issue of the Kenya Gazette.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 40(1) of the National Police Service Act, the Inspector-General designates establishments, particulars of which are set out in the Schedule hereto, to be Police Stations or Posts for the purposes of this Act," the notice read.
In Nairobi County, a police station known as the Utalii Police Station has been established in the Ruaraka sub-county.
Moving on to Turkana, the first police station established is the Oropoi Police Station in Turkana West sub-county.
The third police station, known as Loreng Police Post, has also been established in Turkana West sub-county.
The three are just the latest posts in an ever-growing list of new police stations being established in a bid to facilitate law and order across the country.
During a visit to Ruaraka on March 11, after a series of insecurity reports in the area, President William Ruto directed IG Kanja to rein in the situation and restore normalcy.
Ruto instructed IG Kanja to gazette Ruaraka Police Station by Friday, March 14, at the latest.
"Because of the insecurity in this area, I have directed the Inspector General of Police to ensure that this police station is gazetted by Friday," Ruto stated.
"Equally, police officers should be immediately deployed here to protect the property and life of people in this area. That will help the people of Ruaraka to go about their business without distraction."
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has also previously promised to establish new administration posts and police posts to curb insecurity and banditry.
