However, the National Police Service (NPS) is yet to issue a formal statement on the incident that comes at a time when more than five officers have lost their lives in other crashes that have happened within the month.

Meanwhile, a bus belonging to Bukembe Boys High School was involved in a road accident on Sunday while transporting students from a county music festival held at Cheptais Boys High School in Bungoma County.

The incident occurred at a notorious black spot known as Kona Mbaya, near the Chesikaki Police Station in Cheptais Sub-county. The students were returning to school after participating in the Bungoma County Music Festivals.

Fortunately, no one was injured or lost their life in the accident. However, several students sustained injuries of varying degrees and were rushed to Sirisia Sub-county Hospital for first aid and further medical assessment.

School officials confirmed that all injured students were receiving appropriate medical attention and that their families had been notified. The cause of the accident is yet to be officially established, though eyewitnesses have attributed it to the treacherous nature of the bend.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, as the school and the county education office continue to monitor the students' recovery.
