Metro Trans has announced the temporary suspension of its services on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, due to the ongoing demonstrations.

In a public statement, the transport company said that normal services would resume on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

The commuter bus company went ahead to apologise to their clients for any inconvenience caused by the temporary suspension of the transport services.

"Normal services will resume on Thursday. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” the statement read.

Metro Trans added that the decision was made due to the safety of passengers, staff, and business partners.

“The safety of our clients, partners, and staff remains our highest priority. May God bless you, and may God bless Kenya,” the company added.

The announcement by Metro Trans came after several institutions took precautionary steps ahead of the planned demonstrations countrywide.

Meanwhile, several Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) on Wednesday morning experienced challenges after the police officers mounted the roadblocks on the roads leading to the Nairobi Central Business District(CBD).

The police officers set up barricades to carry out impromptu checks affecting Ngong Road, Jogoo Road, Mombasa Road, and Kiambu Road.

Passengers in Nairobi were forced to alight from the vehicles and undergo security checks while the drivers were instructed to produce the requisite documents.

The roadblocks also forced several Nairobi passengers to alight and walk as motorists were denied access to the CBD.
