Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa Among Regions to Receive Rains, Strong Winds This Week

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans in five regions to brace for continued rains, cold, and strong winds over the next five days.

In its weekly forecast, the weatherman stated that residents of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and North-western Kenya will experience continued rain and cold from Tuesday, July 8, to Saturday, July 12.

Furthermore, the coastal regions, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and North-western Kenya, are expected to be hit with strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) during this period.

The weatherman has predicted that Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties will experience daylong and night rains and showers in a few places throughout the week.

The maximum temperatures in these counties are set to be 24°C, while the minimum temperatures are expected to be as low as 09°C.

Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to experience sunny conditions during the day and partly cloudy conditions throughout the week, according to the weatherman.

It is predicted that the maximum temperatures in these areas will be 30°C, while the minimum temperatures will be 13°C.

Showers over a few places are set to hit Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County,  for most of the week, apart from Tuesday, when residents are expected to experience daylong sunny conditions, and Wednesday and Saturday Morning. Friday and Saturday night are likely to remain partly cloudy.

According to Kenya Met, the maximum temperatures in these areas will be 30°C, while the minimum temperature will be 21°C.

It is predicted that throughout the week, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties will experience daylong rains and showers accompanied by thunderstorms during this period.

The Maximum temperatures in these areas are set to be 35°C, while the minimum temperatures will be at 10°C.

Turkana and Samburu counties are set to experience rains and showers over a few places, accompanied by thunderstorms, as well as at night, according to the weatherman. The maximum temperature is predicted to be 35°C, while the minimum temperatures are set to be 10°C.

Daylong sunny conditions are expected to prevail in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties throughout the week, while the nights are expected to remain partly cloudy. The Maximum temperatures are set to be 35°C, while the minimum temperatures will be 14°C.
