The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is investigating an incident where three Kenyans were reportedly arrested after carrying a body to the Juja Police Station.

Confirming the incident on Monday, LSK President Faith Odhiambo stated that the society had put a team on the case after the three sent out a plea on social media.

"We have a team following up on this case. We will provide an update as soon as possible," the LSK President relayed.

In a grainy video shared on social media, the three were seen presumably sitting in a dimly lit police cell as they called for the intervention of relevant authorities.

"Hey guys, we have been arrested and we are at Juja Police Station. We had brought a body and we were arrested, beaten and thrown in a cell. There are three of us," one, who identified himself as Douglas Govedi, said.

The three then introduced themselves and sought help from the public to ensure their safety.

A clip aired by NTV on Tuesday morning showed the moment one of the three was frogmarched into the station and another one of the officers seemingly taking the deceased's body into the station.

During the Saba Saba protests on Monday, paramedics attending to those injured had decried the impassable roads, impeding their access to injured protesters across Nairobi.

In one clip shared on social media, police officers manning a roadblock were seen turning away an ambulance, sparking a public uproar.

This led to several well-wishers taking matters into their own hands and transporting the injured to treatment centres. The three in custody could also have been among the protesters taking this step.

The arrests are among the 567 people who were arrested across the country by the end of the protests.

According to the National Police Service, the day culminated in 11 people dying, 52 police officers and 11 civilians being injured, and 12 police vehicles being damaged.
