Teachers, parents, candidates, and any other interested parties can now purchase the published copies of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination question papers and marking schemes.

In a notice on Wednesday, July 9, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) announced that a booklet with all the question papers and their subsequent marking schemes is now available for purchase at its bookshop located at its South C headquarters.

Each booklet goes for Ksh2,200, and all payments are made via mobile money to a Paybill account.

"The 2024 KCSE examination question papers and marking schemes are now available for purchase at our bookshop in New Mitihani House, South C, Nairobi," KNEC stated.

"At only Ksh2,200, you will get a booklet containing question papers and marking schemes for all the subjects."

This development comes just over six months after the students sat for the national exams and about four months after the results were announced in January.

Following the release of the booklet, Kenyans.co.ke conducted a spot check which revealed that some Kenyans were dissatisfied with the fact that the booklets were neither free nor available online.

"Go digital, downloadable files, and a subscription fee. For God's sake, this is the 21st century. South Africa, international curriculum, etc, have learning support for all schools to access past papers, marking schemes, examiners' reports, etc. Come up with a portal for exams," one X user lamented.

Another claimed that the Kenyans living outside were at a disadvantage and therefore, the booklet should be available for virtual purchases.

For another one, his problem with the booklet was the steep price, which he claimed could "perpetuate class wars. Big schools will now access them, while struggling schools will continue suffering due to a lack of exposure."

Notably, sample papers for the Kenya Junior Education Assessment (KJSEA), which serve as practice materials for candidates, are available online for free to all Junior Secondary Schools.

The papers were uploaded on the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal for access by all schools in January, according to an announcement by KNEC.
