Lawyer Miguna Miguna has torn into former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent political ambitions.
Speaking during a Citizen TV interview on Sunday, Miguna recalled being at the university at the same time with Gachagua, who was supporting the-then President Daniel Moi and his single-party rule.
According to the former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant, Gachagua's opposition for a multi-party nation when most people were supporting it told him all that he wanted to know about him, that he was not capable of being a transformational leader that Kenya needs.
In fact, he claimed that Gachagua had continued to perpetuate similar ideologies, alongside his united opposition crew, especially by working with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
"I was at the university with Rigathi Gachagua in 1987, even though he was ahead of me, I believe by two years. Gachagua does not represent transformation. He can never transform anything," he claimed.
"Rigathi Gachagua is William Ruto basically because he supported Daniel Arap Moi's one party state in 1987 when many of us were campaigning against it. He supported that through his life and continues to support it. That is why he is with Matiang'i."
Insisting that the current political leadership needed an overhaul, Miguna claimed that none of the members in the united opposition were fit to serve in the top roles and steer Kenya to where it needs to be.
Miguna, who had scored the interview as a rebuttal to Matiang'i's interview a fortnight ago, claimed that their mare association with Matiang'i was clear indication that they had no good plans for Kenya.
From Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, to Eugene Wamalwa, he claimed they were all unfit to lead the country. He also opposed Trans Nzoia County Governor, George Natembeya's eligibility citing atrocities during his regime as a county commissioner.
For years, Miguna has blamed the former Interior CS over his illegal detention and eventual exile to Dubai in 2018, as well as other atrocities, including extra judicial killings and especially the bodies found dumped in River Yala during his regime.
However, he seemingly threw his weight behind former Chief Justice David Maraga for opposing the violation of human rights.
"He is a good candidate. He represents a break from the past. He is not one of the oligarchs but to the extent that he has not revealed his manifesto, I have not spoken to him, I can not say anything beyond that.
But I have to say that he definitely opposes the violation of human rights that occured in 2018 and 2022, including the ones that occured against me. He opposed the culture of impunity that was becoming and became a systemic institutionalised and weaponised by Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, so that is a positive candidate."
