Just days after hitting back at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over accusations that he funded the former Mungiki leader, Maina Njenga, Moses Kuria has spoken out in defence of his alleged connection to Njenga.
Taking to social media on Sunday evening, the former President William Ruto's senior economic adviser said that the image Gachagua had based his claims on was taken after a chance meeting while leaving a media interview back in 2023.
He continued his onslaught on the former DP, accusing him of changing his stance just as fast after leaving the government of the day.
"On 11th June 2023, I was leaving an interview at Kameme FM. On my way out, I found one Maina Njenga at the reception. He requested for a photo," Kuria revealed.
"That is the photo that one mad man, Rigathi Gachagua, is now claiming was taken last week. Relax, my friend. Two years ago, you were calling all our youths Mungiki. Now you call them Itungati. You are a pathetic liar and hypocrite."
In the image, Kuria and Njenga were seen all smiles, holding hands and raising them up in a symbol of unity, fuelling claims that they were working together.
During his visit to the United States on July 19, Gachagua urged Mount Kenya residents to be wary of certain regional politicians, such as Kuria. He claimed that Kuria was being used by the president to divide the mountain's votes.
"When you see a party or an individual like Moses Kuria praising certain ideas or directions, understand that it is aligned with what the President wants,” Gachagua noted.
“This is not accidental. There is a calculated political strategy to divide Mt Kenya votes into two blocs. Unfortunately, some of our own are being used to achieve this," he added.
A day later, Kuria hit back with a sarcastic comment alluding that he had learned his scheming ways from his accuser, Gachagua.
He further claimed that he had been present when the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader had allegedly hired individuals to invade the former President Uhuru Kenyatta's Northlands farm.
"Rigathi Gachagua has accused me during his tour of the US of funding and supporting Maina Njenga. I am guilty as charged. I learnt from the best. I was in the room when Rigathi paid the same people money to steal Uhuru Kenyatta's goats from Northlands," Kuria claimed.
