Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that many parts of the country will experience continuous heavy rainfall, cold weather starting from Tuesday, July 22, through Saturday 26, 2025.
In a weather report released on July 21, the department said that several counties will have rainy, cloudy conditions throughout the week.
According to the weatherman, the highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and parts of Northwestern Kenya will experience chilly and cloudy conditions during this period.
Counties including Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok are expected to experience sunny intervals in the mornings and light rains in some areas.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon in some isolated areas, while night showers are expected in a few places.
The weatherman also warned that strong winds will affect parts of the coast, the Southern-Eastern lowlands, North Eastern Kenya, and North Western Kenya.
These winds are expected to consistently exceed speeds of 25 knots, approximately 12.86 meters per second.
According to the forecast, some areas will also experience showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, while a few places may receive rain during the night. These parts are the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-Eastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley.
Cold, cloudy weather will persist in the Highlands East and west of the Rift Valley, part of the Rift Valley and Southern-Eastern lowlands, where temperature may fall below 10°C at night in the highland zones.
According to the department, Turkana and Samburu will experience sunny interval during the day while night are likely to be partly cloudy. It predicted that there will be rains in the morning, afternoon and night showers.
Regions such as Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties are to experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy during the nights.
Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties, and the inland parts of Tana-River County will experience cloudy conditions in the morning, with sunny intervals, while partly cloudy at night.
