As the country excitedly prepares itself for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament, which kicks off on August 2, the government has outlined measures to ensure smooth entry and a splendid experience for all attendees.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, on Wednesday, July 23, explained that the new protocols are designed to guarantee a secure and seamless experience for all attendees.
Among the key directives outlined by the CS is a complete shift to digital ticketing. Fans will only be allowed entry into stadiums with valid online tickets, as no physical tickets will be accepted at any gate.
''All tickets will be sold exclusively online. No physical tickets will be accepted at any gate,'' the CS said.
Another safety measure implemented by the country includes a four-point screening system, which sets a high standard for stadium safety, offering fans a seamless, secure, and world-class tournament experience.
Kenya has confidently demonstrated its ability to host CHAN and other world-class football tournaments through its extensive preparations. Kasarani Stadium, one of the venues, is fully primed for CHAN after undergoing renovations.
The stadium's pitch and turf have been replaced with world-class grass that meets CAF standards, and the floodlights have been upgraded to 1,200–2,000 lux luminance, with backup systems in place for night matches.
Other elements such as screens, seating, and facilities have also been upgraded to ensure both fans and players enjoy smooth and comfortable match experiences.
CHAN 2025 will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, with Nairobi staging all of Kenya’s Group A matches and the tournament’s final on August 30. The Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani, and Nyayo National Stadium have been earmarked as the primary venues.
CHAN provides yet another opportunity for football fans to meet and enjoy the game. In March, Harambee Stars sold out the 30,000-seat Nyayo National Stadium, a move that shows how enthusiastic Kenyans are to show up and support their own during such matches.
Already, Kenyans have shown interest in CHAN with thousands of them rushing to acquire the tickets. To buy the ticket, visit chan.mookh.com and select the match you would like to attend. Upon clicking on Buy Tickets, you will be directed to a page where you can choose a ticket category.
There's the regular ticket going for Ksh200, the VIP ticket going for Ksh500, and the VVIP ticket going for Ksh1,000. Upon selecting the category will be guided on how to pay, either via mobile money or by card.
