The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced the passing of Kisii Governor Simba Arati's sister.

In a statement on Saturday evening, the party revealed that Arati's sister, Isabella Arati, would be buried later today, August 10.

The funeral will be held in Isinya, Kajiado County, near the Entarakwet Hotel.

"We commiserate with our DPL Simba Arati following the loss of his sister Isabella Arati," the statement read.

"Burial is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday, 10/8) at her farm in Isinya, Kajiado County, next to Entarakwet Hotel. As a party, we stand with the Arati family during this period of grief."

However, the party did not reveal the cause of Isabella's death or when she passed away.

The statement by the party came just hours after several local ODM leaders visited Arati’s family ahead of the burial to pass their condolences on Saturday.

The grassroots team was led by Chairman Paul Momanyi Kabos and Hezbon Mochama, a youth leader from Kisii, who later mourned the governor's sister on Facebook.

"Today, the Kisii team, led by ODM Chairman Paul Momanyi Kabos, visited the family of HE Simba Arati, who had lost his Sister, Robina. The late will be laid to rest tomorrow in Kiseriani. Pole Sana, Governor," Mochama stated.

Just days ago, on August 7, Arati announced the death of his fellow gubernatorial aspirant in the 2022 General Elections, who passed on in an accident while travelling to their son's graduation ceremony.

"It is with heartfelt sorrow that I have learned of the passing of Bishop Josiah Onyancha and his wife, Hellen. The couple tragically lost their lives in a horrific accident on the Kisii-Narok Highway while en route to their son Edwin Nyarangi's graduation," Arati stated.

"Bishop Onyancha, who vied for the governorship seat in the 2022 General Election, will be remembered as a courageous, respected, and distinguished leader. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Onyacha's children, family, and friends, and I hope they find comfort and peace during this challenging time."
