Two people, including the stepson of the deceased, have been arrested on suspicion of murdering the Komarock Residents Association Trustee Board Chairperson, Allan Kitavi.

On the night of July 31, Kitavi was found dead on the driveway of his second wife's house in Thome, Nairobi County. He had sustained serious neck wounds and burns.

CCTV footage seen by Kenyans.co.ke shows the two suspects entering the house at 7:30pm, followed several minutes later at 8:00pm by the victim, who appears to be walking casually.

A few minutes later, at 8:40pm, the first suspect is seen leaving the residence, followed closely by the second suspect just one minute later.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations believe that the murder was premeditated and took place at around 8:30pm just before the suspects were seen leaving the premises.

According to the DCIO at the Kasarani Police Station, Alloyce Bett, the murder might have been motivated by the acquisition of family property.

"The stepson had been seen by witnesses and was caught on CCTV entering the home, and then a few minutes later he went out with a friend, and that is the time we discovered that the deceased had been murdered," the DCIO stated.

To add more credence to the fact that the killing might have been motivated by greed, Kitavi's first wife revealed she and the deceased had bought the plot where the second wife lived long before he became polygamous, and there had been talks for the second wife to vacate.

Speaking to TV47, she recalled being threatened by the suspect and his mother, the second wife, when she had gone to visit the plot in 2009.

She claimed that she had been ordered never to set foot on the property again, which led her to never return until the killing of her husband last month.

Just two months before he was killed, Kitavi had filed a police report at the Kasarani Police Station after he reportedly lost several documents, including title deeds, land allocation, logbook and also his academic certificates.

The DCI revealed that it had until August 27 to conclude the investigations as pressure mounts for the police to solve the case.
