The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, will return to the country on Thursday, August 21, the party has officially announced.

In an official statement dated Thursday, August 14, the party alleged that there were plots to divert the former DP's plane and eventually eliminate him once he returned to the nation from his United States tour.

DCP claimed that intelligence reports reaching them indicated plans to eliminate Gachagua by subjecting him to a slow and silent killing through poisoning.

The party further alleged that top leaders had planned for Gachagua to be abducted immediately upon his arrival at JKIA, intimidated, brutalised, and placed under house apprehension.

"Their intent is to subject him to slow and silent elimination by poisoning, the very same cruel method they inflicted on the late Kenneth Matiba while in State custody," the statement read in part.

The party is alleging that the plan aims to alienate Gachagua and keep him away from his supporters.

"They want to kill his voice and his body at the same time. But let this be clear: if they dare lay a hand on him, the country will grind to a halt," the party continued.

Furthermore, the party has accused Nelson Koech, Chair of the National Assembly's Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee, of plotting to divert Gachagua’s plane, thereby denying him the opportunity to address his supporters.

"Nelson Koech, Chair of the National Assembly Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee, has revealed another calculated provocation: a plan to divert H.E. Gachagua's flight to Mombasa or Kisumu International Airport so that they deny him an opportunity to give a much-anticipated address to the nation," the party continued.

The party has, however, assured that these plots will not thwart Gachagua’s planned return to the country.

DCP has called on its supporters in Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa to turn up in unprecedented numbers to welcome the party leader, who has been away in the US for almost two months.

On Thursday, the party had alleged that Gachagua had cut his trip short to lead the by-election campaigns for the party's candidate in the various seats.
