The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced a cut in ticket prices for Kenya's final home fixture of the 2026 World Cup qualifier in a bid to boost attendance at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
In a statement on Sunday, September 7, the FKF confirmed that Gold ticket prices have been slashed by 50 per cent and would now retail at Ksh500 from the initial Ksh1,000.
The discounted rate, according to FKF, would be live in the official ticket portal until 4pm on Monday, September 8.
"You’ve lit up Kasarani in every home game. Now, one last time – let’s fill the stands and push Harambee Stars past Seychelles," a statement from FKF read.
The move was largely seen as a last-ditch effort by the federation to draw fans back to the stadium after the Harambee Stars' 3-1 defeat to Gambia on Friday.
That defeat, coupled with Gabon's 4-0 win over Seychelles on September 3, meant Kenya is mathematically out of contention to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Notably, the revised pricing was also a nod to previous fan expectations since during the African Nations Championships (CHAN), gold tickets were priced at Ksh500, while regular tickets at the Kasarani stadium went for as low as Ksh200.
These rates, combined with the fact that Kenya were co-hosts of CHAN, gave fans sufficient motivation to fill the 46,000 capacity stadium, although the high numbers have not been replicated since Harambee Stars' exit in the quarter-final at the hands of Madagascar.
Since the start of CHAN in August, Kenya has played a total of six matches at the Kasarani Stadium, including the defeat to Gambia.
The Kenya vs Seychelles game provides potentially the last chance for fans to enjoy a high-profile game at the Kasarani Stadium for the foreseeable future.
Harambee Stars' next games in World Cup qualifiers will be away fixtures, against Burundi on October 6 and the Ivory Coast just a week later.
Besides the Seychelles game, Tuesday, September 9, will also see another World Cup qualifier match between Gambia and Burundi take place at the Nyayo Stadium at 10pm.
