Nairobi City County has released schedules for the inspection and stamping of weighing and measuring equipment between August and November 2025.
In a notice released on Friday, September 19, it was announced that all affected traders must submit their weighing and measuring instruments for inspection at designated centres on specific dates.
Stamping will take place at police stations, social halls, chiefs' offices, shopping centres and county offices in Westlands, Kibra, Dagoretti, Langata, Roysambu, Kasarani and Embakasi, among other sub-counties.
“All traders within a radius of twenty (20) kilometres of the places mentioned are required under the law to submit their weighing and measuring instruments for inspection and stamping,” part of the notice from the county reads.
City Hall also stated that instruments exceeding 500kg in capacity will be tested in situ - where they are located - since moving them is complicated.
Traders who possess instruments with 500kg are urged to notify the inspector in writing of the type, capacity and location of the instrument at least three days before the inspection day.
"Traders in possession of such instruments may comply with this notice by notifying the inspector (County Director of Weights and Measures -Nairobi City County) in writing as to the type, capacity and location of the instruments at least three days before the date on which the equipment is to be produced," the statement reads.
