Seven people were arrested on Saturday, September 20, with a consignment of stolen household goods and electronics in Bungoma during a police patrol.

According to a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), police officers from Bungoma Police Station were on patrol when they intercepted the suspects with some of the stolen goods.

The police officers then proceeded to interrogate the suspects, after which they revealed that there were other stolen items in their hideouts.

They further stated that the suspects led officers to a house in the Galana area, where more items were recovered and additional suspects were apprehended.

Upon a search in the area, the officers recovered several items, including television sets, laptops, speakers, solar equipment, utensils, and other assorted household and electronic goods.

They also impounded two motorcycles, believed to have been used to transport the stolen property.

The items were documented to be used as exhibits, and the suspects were taken into custody.

Currently, they are awaiting arraignment at the Bungoma Law Courts, to be carried out on September 22.

In its statement, NPS lauded the officers involved in the arrest and assured Kenyans that the service would keep dismantling criminal networks.

"The National Police Service commends the officers for their swift action and assures the public that operations to dismantle criminal networks are ongoing," the statement read in part.

This comes just days after police arrested five people in connection with a robbery in which goods worth Ksh5.4 million were stolen and a driver was assaulted.

The victim, a company driver, was transporting a consignment of basic hygiene products, including boxes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergents and fabric softeners, when the robbers attacked and made away with the goods.
