President William Ruto has made a raft of changes to various government positions, including the appointment of John Cox Lorionokou as the Registrar of Political Parties.

In a gazette notice dated Friday, October 3, the Head of State appointed Cox to the position for six years. He also appointed Agatha Wahome as Assistant Registrar of Political Parties.

Before he was appointed the Registrar of Political Parties, Cox served as Constituency Elections Coordinator at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Cox, who pursued his Bachelor's Degree at Maseno University, served as the sub-county elections coordinator for about 15 years since 2010.

Besides the Bachelor's degree, Lorionokou is currently undertaking his Master's degree in Governance and Ethics at Mt Kenya University. He has also undergone senior management training at the Kenya School of Government.

He takes over from Ann Nderitu, who landed a job as a Commissioner at IEBC. Neritu served as the RPP for seven years, since 2018.

At the same time, Ruto announced the appointment of Anthony Muchiri, Florence Bore, Lucy Kiruthu and Henry Wambuma to various ambassadorial and high commission roles.

Others who were also appointed to various ambassadorial positions include Abdirashid Abdille, Joseph Masila, Edwin Afande, Jayne Jepkorir Toroitich and Judy Kiaria Nkumiri

In the notice, Ruto also designated Claris Awuor Ogangah to be the new Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) for a term of six years, effective immediately.

Claris replaces Roseline Odede, who passed away in January this year after a short illness. At the time of her demise, Odede had served in the Commission for 4 years.

Before her appointment to the helm of KNCHR, Ogangah served as the Deputy Country Representative and Human Rights Specialist at the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The aforementioned appointments come weeks after the National Assembly's Committee on Appointments approved the individuals for the said positions.
