Popular Gengetone artist has been hospitalised in critical condition after reportedly being involved in a road accident along Thika Road on the morning of Sunday, October 5.

News of Shalkido's accident was initially broken by media personality Oga Obinna, who was among the last people to see the artist before the incident.

Preliminary reports indicate that Shalkido was involved in an accident at around 4am, hours after he made a cameo performance at an entertainment joint in Thika.

According to Obinna, the artist travelled from Thika back to Nairobi on his motorcycle without much incident, but hours later, reports were rife that he had been hospitalised in critical condition.

"When we were leaving, we lost him at some point. When met at the merging road to Thika. He was on his bike. I fueled his bike, and we proceeded. This was 4 am," Obinna narrated.

"We went until just past KU. He waved at us as he took an exit, and we proceeded with our journey."

According to the media personality, hours after parting ways with the artist, he received reports of the accident, which reportedly left Shalkido with serious head injuries.

The artist was rushed to a nearby health facility, with blood gushing from his ears, with the latest reports indicating he is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

His motorbike, meanwhile, has since been taken to an unnamed police station, pending investigations.

Incidentally, the accident came barely months after Shalkido made a return to the limelight, albeit under grim circumstances, as he went public about his financial struggles.

The Ngunde Ngurume hitmaker narrated how he had reached a breaking point as he shared images and videos of his living conditions. One of his first requests was a motorbike, which he intended to use to start a boda boda business.

His plea attracted the attention of Eric Omondi, who used his famous Sisi kwa Sisi initiative to rally funds from online users to get Shalkido a new motorbike.
