The Kenya Meteorological Department has revealed in its latest forecast report that a number of counties will experience a reduction in rainfall this week.
According to the weather forecast, there will be reduced rainfall between October 7 and 13, 2025, as several parts of the country will still likely receive rainfall.
It added that some areas will experience heavy rainfall ranging between 20mm and 50mm over the predicted period.
The department also warned that there will also be a risk of flash floods and other weather hazards during the predicted period in some parts of the country.
It also warned that the heavy rains may be accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms and strong winds.
Regions expected to receive rainfall include the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal regions, the North-eastern Lowlands, the South-eastern Lowlands, and western Kenya.
The department also predicted low night-time temperatures below 10°C in the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley and regions near Mt Kilimanjaro.
It added that during the day, temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected in north-eastern and north-western regions, as well as parts of the coast.
Isolated showers are predicted for the West, the Highlands, the East of the Rift Valley, the North West and the Lake Victoria Basin.
The department predicted that on October 10, Mazingira Day, most of the country would experience sunshine and dry conditions.
“As the nation marks Mazingira Day this Friday, 10th October 2025, weather conditions are expected to be generally sunny and dry across most parts of the country.”
“However, occasional light to moderate rainfall is likely over parts of Western Kenya, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Highlands, and along the Coastal strip,” part of the statement reads.
