Naivas Supermarket has appointed Andreas von Paleske as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding longtime CEO David Kimani.
According to the retailer, Andreas will assume the role on November 1, 2025, and will lead the company into its next phase of growth.
Andreas has been with Naivas Supermarket for eight years, serving as the Chief of Strategy.
During his tenure, the business expanded its store network to over 100 locations, working closely with the outgoing CEO over the years, making the transition easier.
The outgoing CEO, David Kimani, is a founding member of the retail chain and has held various positions since 1990.
Kimani chose to step down during the company’s 35th anniversary in July 2025.
"Having achieved several landmark milestones in recent years, and with a strong leadership team in place, I could not think of a better opportunity than our 35-year anniversary to pass on the baton to Andreas," said David Kimani.
Despite stepping down from top leadership, the retailer says David Kimani will remain actively involved in the business, working alongside Charles Mukuha, the current Director and Chief of Administration, and Peter Mukuha, the Chief Operating Officer.
Addressing Andreas’s appointment, Arnaud Lagesse, Chairman of Naivas International, highlighted his deep understanding of the company’s culture and industry expertise, stating, "With Andreas, we have the right leader to take the business to even greater heights."
He added, "His appointment ensures continuity and positions the company for its next phase of growth."
Before joining Naivas, Andreas held senior roles with private equity firms Lion Capital and Actis. He has over 20 years of investment and operational experience in the consumer and retail sectors.
"Naivas remains committed to delivering value to its customers, partners, and communities, and this transition reinforces its focus on sustainable growth and operational excellence," the company said in a statement.
