Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda has been elected to the Board of Governance of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The election was confirmed by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi during the afternoon session of Wednesday, October 8.
In her new role on the Board of Governance, Senator Mutinda will represent East Africa for a two-year term between 2025 and 2027.
She will formally assume her role on October 13, during the Parliamentary engagements at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF.
For her role, she will be involved in setting the strategic direction and providing oversight for the activities of the Parliamentary Network.
The Parliamentary Network is an independent, non-governmental organisation that offers legislators from around the world a platform to engage with the World Bank Group and the IMF on matters of transparency, accountability and development effectiveness.
It facilitates dialogue between parliamentarians, civil society and international financial institutions.
In so doing, the network focuses on promoting sound governance in the management of public resources, advancing poverty reduction strategies and supporting policies that stimulate inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Following the announcement, the Senator was commended by her colleagues, including Majority Leader and Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Kitui's Enoch Wambua, Machakos' Agnes Kavindu and Murang'a's Joe Nyutu for her impressive record of service that had led to her recognition on the global stage.
"They commended her impressive record of service to the people of Kenya and encouraged her to continue exemplifying excellence on the global stage," a statement from the Senate read.
"The Lawmakers pledged their unwavering support to ensure that Sen. Mutinda successfully fulfils her new responsibilities with distinction."
The Senator will seemingly serve her Senatorial role alongside her new appointment, as no other statements have been made to the contrary.
