Clashes broke out on Wednesday night, extending to Thursday morning in Isinya, Kajiado County, reportedly involving two sections of boda boda riders.

Other reports indicate that the clashes have evolved into boda boda riders clashing with locals, as the situation becomes increasingly volatile over time.

As such, several businesses have been closed in the town according to videos and images seen by Kenyans.co.ke.

In other videos, crowds of suspected boda boda riders are seen chasing rivals, even throwing stones and other dangerous objects as residents flee from the melee.

According to reports, the security agencies in the town have held a meeting to ascertain the cause of the chaos.

One such post in a Kajiado County politics group came from one activist who claimed he had been blamed for inciting the violence, although he claims he was out of town when the chaos broke out.

"Yesterday, I was away from Isinya. Chaos erupted in our beautiful town. I am told that when the security agencies held a meeting, the first name floated was mine! Madam OCS, I am everything but I am not an inciter. I only fight for people's rights," the post on Kajiado County Congress read.

Although the cause of the clashes is yet to be publicly confirmed, several reports indicate that they might be tribal clashes between the two main communities in the town.

This comes just hours after businesses were temporarily disrupted in the Fig Tree Market in Ngara following protests that broke out on Wednesday morning.

Traders in the area were protesting their shops being demolished by unknown people.

Reportedly, a group of young men began demolishing shops and kiosks to pave the way for the construction of modern housing units, angering the traders.

Further reports, however, indicate that the market space had initially been leased to the traders for a specific duration, but upon the expiry of the deal, they declined to leave the area.
