In a surprising turn of events, former senior advisor to President William Ruto, Moses Kuria, has extended an olive branch to Democracy for the Citizens' Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, seeking to end their political rivalry.

However, Kuria emphasised that the truce would come with one non-negotiable condition - that the former Deputy President must immediately stop disrespecting leaders and women.

In a statement on Saturday evening, Kuria, a Ruto ally, acknowledged Gachagua's rapidly growing influence in the Mt Kenya region.

Kuria even referred to Gachagua as the undisputed kingpin of the region, adding that, just as with the recent truce between KANU party leader Gideon Moi and Ruto, he was willing to join forces with Gachagua.

“To my brother Rigathi Gachagua. I am an honest man. By now you know that. It is an undeniable fact that the majority of our Mt Kenya people listen to you," Kuria stated.

Adding: "You are edging closer to being our undisputed Kingpin in the Mountain. Just like Gideon Moi and William Ruto are working together, I might consider working with you very soon. "

While cautioning the DCP leader against insulting leaders and women from the Mt Kenya region, Kuria noted that Gachagua's constant scathing attacks on the region's female leaders were not commensurate with his post as a supposed Mt Kenya kingpin.

"I have only one humble request. Kindly refrain from insulting our leaders in general, our women leaders in particular and all Mt Kenya women by extension," Kuria affirmed.

He went on to add, "Doesn't really sound commensurate with your undisputed kingpin status. Kindly sir. With profound respect."

This is after a viral video emerged showing the former DP Gachagua calling out Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, whom he accused of working for the Head of State to sow division in Mt Kenya.

Kuria's sentiments come against the backdrop of the heated supremacy battle among senior political leaders for the region's votes in the run-up to the 2027 general elections.

Despite the supremacy battles for the populous region's votes, Gachagua has in recent months been actively involved in shaping the region's political landscape, particularly since his impeachment last year.
