The National Land  Commission (NLC) has issued land acquisition notices for government projects in Turkana, Tharaka Nithi, and Isiolo counties.

In a gazette notice dated September 9, NLC said that the commission will delete two land parcels that were to be used for the construction of the Itugururu Airstrip, acquire 19 parcels of land, and make changes to 16 others.

On the other hand, the commission said that it's in the process of acquiring 186 parcels in Meru and Isiolo for the construction of the Isiolo–Kulamawe (A10/B84) Road.

Lastly, the commission said that it is also in the process of acquiring 34 parcels of land in Turkana County for the Upstream Development, South Lokichar Basin Oil Project.

The land, which is reserved for grazing, residential use, and oil wells, will be acquired on behalf of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining.

Those affected by the three projects have been encouraged to visit the NLC headquarters to submit identification, ownership, and bank details to facilitate compensation.

"Every person interested in the affected land is required to deliver to the National Land Commission on or before the day of the inquiry a written claim to compensation, a copy of their identity card (ID), Personal Identification Number (PIN), land ownership documents, and bank account details," NLC stated.

"For interested companies, deliver copies of the certificate of incorporation, CR12, the company’s KRA PIN, and copies of ID and PIN for the Directors. The Commission offices are in Ardhi House, 3rd Floor, Room 305, 1st Ngong Avenue, Nairobi, and the Commission’s Co-ordinator’s Office in Tharaka Nithi County," it added.

In the same gazette, NLC  said that it will delete five parcels of land in Nairobi that were listed for acquisition for the construction of the Globe Roundabout Public Transport Terminal.

The deletion of the land in question, which is owned by companies and community trustees, will be done on behalf of the Nairobi County government.

On the other hand, NLC said that it will delete 13 land parcels intended for the upgrade of the Embakasi Slip Road.

The deletion will be done on behalf of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), which was to oversee the project.
