According to reports, Raila was with by his daughter and relatives and his personal doctor in India.

The Ayurvedic eye hospital spokesperson said that his body is currently kept at the facility and the Ministry of External Affairs and the Kenyan Embassy in New Delhi will issue further steps.

Reportedly, Odinga had a connection with the facility he was receiving treatment from since his daughter Rosemary Odinga had undergone treatment there after she had lost sight in 2017 following optic nerve damage

The veteran politician died at the age of 80.

He had visited India a few weeks ago for medical treatment.

Siaya Senator, Oburu Oginga, Raila’s elder brother, confirmed Raila’s visit to India on October 10, stating that he was recuperating.

He clarified that Odinga only suffered a slight illness which forced him to seek medical attention abroad.

“I want to take this opportunity to clarify this, there have been a lot of rumours about our party leader, Raila Odinga, that he is very sick, that he is almost dying and that he is completely out," Oburu noted.

"But I want to tell you that he is out and about, and he is just like any other human being who was indisposed a little, and he is now recuperating and resting, but he was not in those conditions alleged," he added
