The Teachers Service Commission(TSC) has postponed all the teachers' promotion interviews in the country, which were scheduled for Friday, October 18, 2025.
In a statement by TSC on October 17, the commission stated that the promotional interviews were postponed due to the government’s declaration of the day as a public holiday in honour of the late Raila Odinga.
"Following the government's declaration of Friday, October 17, 2025, as a public Holiday in honour of the late Raila Odinga, the Teachers Service Commission has suspended all promotional interviews previously scheduled for Friday, October 17, "part of their statement read.
The Commission added that the affected interviews will be held between Tuesday, October 21 and Thursday, October 23, 2025.
TSC said that regional directors will communicate new schedules and logistics details to other affected teachers.
Promotional Interviews are part of TSC's regular exercise to assess teachers across the country for promotions.
Earlier, TSC had urged teachers to report to the regional centres for interviews, but had to be postponed due to a public holiday.
Interviews came a month after TSC on August 11, advertised 21,313 promotional posts from August 12 to August 25, and later shortlisted candidates.
On September 16, 2025, shortlisted candidates were invited for interviews with at least seven days' notice given before the interview date.
Primary School teachers began their interview on October 6, 10, 2025, at the sub-county level, where 47,449 teachers were shortlisted.
TSC interviews post-primary teachers from October 13 to August 24 at the county level.
During the same period as post-primary teachers, the commission carried out an interview for Senior principals and Curriculum support officers and these were held at the regional level.
