Several Feared Dead as Lorry Crashes on Top of Building in Mutarakwa, Kiambu

Several people are feared dead and others injured after a  lorry rammed into a hardware shop in Kiambu County on Saturday afternoon

According to witnesses, the incident happened along the Mutarakwa - Maai Majiu road at the Limuru Junction.

Photos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke. show the lorry suspended on the roof of a building’s roof, its rear wheels hanging mid-air, with the front part completely embedded inside the building.

Bystanders and other motorists could be seen milling around the scene, trying to assess the situation and assist with the rescue efforts.

Following the incident, the police and emergency services arrived to assist with the rescue operation. An investigation into the cause of the accident has begun.

However, the authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were in the vehicle or the building, or how many people died.

This accident adds to the increasing number of road accidents on major highways across the country.

Six Die in Dawn Crash

The accidents come hours after at least six people lost their lives following a dawn accident at Soysambu near Gilgil along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.

The head-on collision between a bus and a private vehicle happened at around 4am on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

According to reports, all six individuals who died on the spot, were travelling in a private vehicle.

The bodies have been moved to the mortuary at Gilgil Sub-County Hospital, where they are awaiting identification by family members.

The authorities have not yet revealed the exact number of occupants in the truck. Both vehicles have been towed to Gilgil Police Station.
